Dear all,

The preparation for the event goes smoothly after we sent you the News Letter 1 in Nov 15, 2007. Thank you for your efforts to promote the preparation for RoboCup 2008!

1. The Website

Now most of leagues have got access to their web page and following announcements were posted:

*Call for Participation RoboCup@Home League 2008
*Call for Quota RoboCup Junior 2008
*Call for Participation RoboCup Small Size League 2008
*Call for Paper RoboCup International Symposium 2008
*Call for Participation RoboCup Rescue Simulation 2008
*Call for Participation RoboCup Mixed Reality 2008
*Call for Participation RoboCup Humanoid League 2008

Thanks for these announcements posted on the website of RoboCup 08, which is necessary besides posting them on your league mailing lists. As you know, there may some new teams who have not joined the mailing lists of the leagues which they want to participate for the first time and thus the website of RoboCup 08 is their only information resource. Moreover, it is the easiest for the LOC's local arrangement staff to know the process in each league from the website, so that they can prepare and provide sufficient services accordingly in time.

2. International flights to Shanghai

It is estimated that there will be more than 500,000 overseas visitors to Olympics, Beijing, which will begin on Aug. 8. It is also estimated that 90% of these visitors will make additional tour in other cities or areas of China. We can predict that Shanghai will be the first option of the additional tour. Therefore, the international flights to Shanghai will be extremely crowded! As you know, the LOC can do nothing except providing the information and the advice:

***PLEASE BOOK YOUR FLIGHTS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!***

There are two international airports, Pudong and Hongqiao, in Shanghai and both are OK for your trip, though most international flights will arrive at Pudong airport. There are shuttle buses from both airports to Suzhou every hour, taking about 1.5-2 and 1 hour, respectively. We will arrange extra buses during the "participants-arriving rush hour" if needed. We will also arrange volunteers to help you at both airports.

Please forward this information and advice on your mailing lists ASAP.

Thanks in advance!

3. Team registration

However, some teams may not take the situation seriously, unless they get qualified. So it is best if we could finish qualification as early as possible. As reported in News Letter 1 and posted on the website, we have following

Registration Due:

- For senior teams from Iran, Turkey, or Nigeria: April 20
- For other senior teams: May 15
- For junior teams: May 20
- For individuals who only attend the symposium: June 15

Moreover, the team registration website will open on March 1. After a team has registered on the website, the LOC will proceed to prepare and send invitation letter to the team.

4. Pre-registration

Please provide the numbers of teams pre-registering in your league/subleagues after the pre-registration finishes. These numbers will be very useful for the LOC's preparing and propagandizing the event. Now media is really interested in the event. We should provide as more information as possible.

Thanks again for your invaluable efforts!

Best regards,

Zengqi Sun and Xiaoping Chen
