The goal of annual RoboCupRescue Robot League competitions is to increase awareness of the challenges involved in urban search and rescue (US&R) applications, provide objective evaluation of robotic implementations in representative environments, and promote collaboration between researchers.
The intent
of this email list is to help teams quicken the pace of advancement
in US&R robotics by:
1) providing practical help in overcoming technical problems that
arise,
2) promoting and leveraging successful approaches and implementations,
3) encouraging collaboration with other teams demonstrating complimentary
technical capabilities in mobility, sensory perception, planning,
mapping, and practical operator interfaces.
The ultimate goal, of course, is to develop complete and effective robotic systems that can be deployed in the field to save lives. Hopefully, this email list will help get us there faster, and make it easier for teams to contribute along the way.
